If you already have a basic knowledge of the German language, telc Deutsch B1 is the right exam for you. For naturalization in Germany, telc Deutsch B1 is a recognized proof of sufficient language skills.

telc Deutsch B2 tests general German language skills at an advanced level.

What can you do at B1 level?

At level B1 you can communicate in a simple and connected way in everyday situations, while travelling and when talking about topics that are of personal interest. You can describe experiences, hopes and ambitions and give reasons for opinions. On the whole you can use the most important grammatical structures correctly.


How is the exam strucutured?

The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written exam lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes. Before the oral exam you have 20 minutes preparation time. 



Written exam (from 08:30 AM)

  • Reading comprehension + language modules (vocabulary and grammar) - 90 mins
  • Listening comprehension - 30 mins
  • Writing - 30 mins

Oral exam (from 01:00 PM)

  • usually together with another participant
  • 15 mins

What can you do at B2 level?

At B2 level, you can express yourself clearly and in detail, and argue and negotiate successfully. You have a large vocabulary in your own field and on most general topics. You have a fairly good command of grammar.
